I recently had the opportunity to celebrate Oklahoma’s rich Western heritage at the Stockyards Stampede in Oklahoma City, an event that truly captures the spirit of the West. Held in the historic Stockyards City district, this annual festival brings together the best of Western culture with a parade, chuckwagon cooking, and live music.

The day kicked off with an impressive parade featuring longhorn cattle making their way down Main Street, starting from the iconic National Stockyards archway. From there, visitors can savor delicious, classic Western fare like cobbler, stew, and cornbread. The event also showcases the best of local craftsmanship at the Made in Oklahoma Market, where you’ll find unique items, including western wall art by Teri James Photography!
